To Infinity Mirrors… and beyond!

I’m not a connoisseur of modern art, but a friend of mine had extra tickets to the Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirror Rooms exhibit at the Hirschorn Museum in D.C. today and since I like trying new things, I jumped at the chancce. I Googled about the show before I went and I was blown away at how popular it was. I had no. idea. Apparently it was almost impossible to get tickets, so I’m very grateful I had the chance to see it myself.

The show was interesting and some of the mirror rooms were amazing. It’s just too bad that because of the demand and the small size of the rooms, you only got 20 seconds in each one to really take them in.

Here are some of my shots from the exhibit, inside and outside the infinity mirror rooms.

After all the lineups, we were pretty peckish afterwards, so we stopped at Oyamel where I enjoyed some chips and salsa, Caesar salad, and a light margarita. All in all, a great way to celebrate both a Saturday afternoon and Cinco de Mayo!

I’m not sure what kind of tree this is, but the flowers are really gorgeous.


Whip it good

I’m pretty sure the best lesson I’ve learned in 2015 so far is that I can use my Magic Bullet blender to make real whipped cream. And it only takes about 20 seconds!


Weeds be gone

This week’s weather has not been what I consider ideal for summer (i.e. hot, without torrential downpours). But on the plus side, it made weeding and cleaning up the garden a lot more tolerable—once the rain stopped.
